20 biblical personal resolutions for 2011:

One of the elders from our church was called upon to give the sermon this last Sunday. And he talked about how people always have New Years resolutions. Many of them, are toss aside by the month of February. My prayer for myself and for you, is that this list of resolutions will be much easier to keep for the year 2011 and beyond.

1.    May I be resolved not to focus on storing up treasures here on earth, but rather focus on storing up treasures in heaven where moth and rust does not destroy. (Matthew 6:19-20)

2.    May I be resolved to never judge merely by appearance, but to judge righteous judgment. (John 7:24) 

3.    May I be resolved to have the attitude of Jesus who said He must works the works of Him who sent Him, knowing that the night will soon come, when no man can work. (John 9:4)

4.    May I be resolved to consider that my present sufferings are not worthy to be compared to the glory that will later be revealed in me. (Romans 8:18) 

5.    May I be resolved to be on my guard, to stand firm in the faith, to be a man of courage, to be strong, and to do everything in love. (1 Corinthians 16:13)

6.    May I be resolved to purify myself from everything that contaminates either my body or spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. (2 Corinthians 7:1)

7 May I be resolved to have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather the boldness to expose them. (Ephesians 5:11)

8.    May I be resolved to be very careful as to how I live—not as a fool but as one who is wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.  (Ephesians 5:15-16)

9.    May I be resolved to submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. (Ephesians 5:21)

10.May I be resolved to love my wife, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her. (Ephesians 5:25).

11.May I be resolved to live in the confidence that He who began a good work in me will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6)

12.May I be resolved to do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above myself, not looking to my own interests but to the interests of others. (Philippians 2:3-4)

13.May I be resolved to live a life worthy of the Lord, pleasing Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, and growing in the knowledge of God. (Colossians 1:10-11)

14.May I be resolved to always give thanks unto the Father, who has delivered me from the power of darkness, and has translated me into the kingdom of His dear Son: in whom I have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins. (Colossians 1:12-14)

15.May I be resolved to rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

16.May I be resolved to endure hardship like a good soldier of Jesus Christ. (2 Timothy 2:3)

17.May I be resolved to present myself as a workmen who needs not be ashamed and who correctly handles the Word of God. (2 Timothy 2:15)

18.May I be resolved to be able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and going astray, knowing that I too am subject to weakness. (Hebrews 5:2)

19.May I be resolved to keep on loving each other as brothers, to remember those in prison as if I were their fellow prisoner, and those who are mistreated as if I myself was suffering. (Hebrews 13:1-3)

20.May I be resolved to make every effort to add to my faith: goodness, knowledge, self control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love. (2 Peter 1:5-7)
